Peter V. (van Nifterik) began his DJ career in 1986 by playing music in hotel nightclubs primarily for mature audiences. Soon he gained opportunities to work with highly experienced music programmers and mixers in the Houston club scene. In 1989, Peter V. moved to the Los Angeles area to develop his craft and further his career. While on the West Coast, he worked for a number of corporate and independent nightclubs, as well as DJ services, expanding his music knowledge by programming a wide variety of formats.

In 1992, Peter V. relocated back to Houston and within six months was hired as the senior programmer for Randy’s nightclub. It was there that he was given a stage to showcase his entertainment talents beyond the DJ booth. After two very successful years, Peter V. moved on to other Houston area clubs including Regine’s, The Roxy, and Ciao. It was also during this time that he began part-time work as a mobile DJ, beginning with Sound Connections Inc.

In 1997, Peter V. was offered a position in the Boogie Nights nightclub chain. Within a year, he was promoted to Entertainment Coordinator for the Houston area. When Boogie Nights finished its run in the Fall of 2000, Peter V. began full-time work as a mobile DJ working for Sound Connections Inc., Impressive Entertainment, and others. He also became the happy hour Marketing Director and Entertainment Host for the nightclub Max’s 2001.

In the Fall of 2001, Peter V. and his wife Renee began developing A Higher Note. This company is designed to deliver complete satisfaction to its clients. The primary contention of A Higher Note is to bring aspects of entertainment to customers that go far beyond any expectation. The latest venture, A Higher Note Karaoke, is a show that is totally entertaining and interactive with props, games, sing-a-longs, and more. 

In 2004, Peter V. received an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Communications from Alvin Community College, through one of the top programs in the state of Texas. He also spent four years on the air at 89.7 KACC. This experience has proven itself invaluable in all aspects of the entertainment business. 

In 2005, Peter V. became a member of the Houston chapter of the A.D.J.A. (American DJ Association). This is a national organization whose primary objective is to achieve and maintain a high standard for the craft, and to improve the public’s perception and awareness of the value of quality disc jockey entertainment.
